Hormones That Make Women Fat

If you unsuccessfully try to lose weight for a long period of time, perhaps the hormones are responsible for your failure. Which ones, in particular, affect weight and make the ladies overweight?

Hormones That Make Women Fat

You have tried your best to lose weight, but your efforts were in vain?

Maybe you should check your hormones. Women are very vulnerable to hormonal imbalances, food cravings and slow metabolism at all stages of their lives. All three things in turn are affected by premenstrual syndrome, pregnancy, menopause, and daily stress.

Studies show that appetite, weight loss, metabolism and female hormones are inextricably linked. Studying the mechanisms of hormones in ladies can help to control weight more effectively in combination with a personal diet and exercise routine.

Unfortunately, women are more vulnerable in terms of hormonal imbalance than men. Hormones affect women of all ages, as well as on their biological cycle and daily life.

So what are the hormones that make women fat?

Thyroid hormones

The reduced function of the thyroid gland, known as hypothyroidism, affects many women. It is also responsible for weight gain. The most common symptoms include fatigue, cold intolerance, weight gain, dry skin and constipation. Most kilograms are the result of a slow pace of metabolism.

Estrogen

Estrogen is a female sex hormone. During menopause, the level of estrogen decreases, which leads to weight gain, particularly in the abdominal area. Fat cells store and produce estrogen, which converts calories into fat. This usually can lead to obesity.

Progesterone

During menopause, progesterone levels in the body also decrease. The high level of this hormone in the body helps to maintain a balanced weight, which is why after menopause women are at a higher risk of weight gain. It is then and many ladies begin to retain more water in their body, as well as complain about an abdominal bloating.

Testosterone

Some women suffer from a hormonal disorder called polycystic ovary syndrome. It raises testosterone levels, which leads to weight gain, menstrual disturbances, facial hair growth, acne and infertility. Testosterone is also responsible for muscle mass in women. Due to a decrease in testosterone levels during menopause, metabolism slows down. This, in turn, is a prerequisite for weight gain.

Insulin

The insulin hormone is produced by the beta cells of the pancreas. It is responsible for regulating fats and carbohydrates in the body. Insulin also allows the body to use glucose, and its high blood levels contribute to weight gain. This hormone can also cause polycystic ovary syndrome.

Cortisol or stress hormone

Bloating can also be caused by another hormone – cortisol. High levels of stress hormone lead to an increase in appetite and a subsequent increase in weight. Stress and lack of sleep are two of the main causes of high levels of cortisol in the body. Cushing’s syndrome is a rare condition that can also cause high levels of the stress hormone.

Useful tips to avoid weight gain:

  • Eat only when you are hungry and at regular intervals
  • Consume food wisely and refrain from unhealthy products
  • Avoid alcohol and carbonated drinks
  • Exercise regularly
  • Sleep at least 7 hours a day
  • Find a useful way to get rid of problems and stress
  • Consume less bakery and dairy products
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Consume foods or dietary supplements rich in vitamins and minerals
  • Check your hormones
